Reflexology Frequently Asked QuestionsI've been asked some superb questions about reflexology so I thought I'd take some time and dedicate a page of my site to share them with you. If you can think of anymore that you'd like answering why not mail me and I'll add them to the list! How many sessions of Reflexology will I need?As a rule I like to see a new client at least three times in the first 6 - 8 weeks which will allow us to gauge how you are reacting to your treatments and also really kick start the healing process. After that it's a case of working out a treatment plan together normally falling into a 6 weekly treatment cycle. This will allow you to have the continued benefit of a better balanced system and regular time for you to relax away from the stresses of everyday life. How much does it cost?My charges vary slightly dependant on where the session is booked. My basic fee is £25 per session which covers room hire, travel and my fee for treating you with the unique Ingham Technique. See Specials Offers for more details.Does Reflexology tickle?I use a farily heavy pressure to get into the reflexes of the feet meaning that changes to your system happen quicker and means you aren't waiting too long for things to happen. As a result the treatment shouldn't tickle.
Does it hurt? The honest answer is that there will be times during your treatment where I'll find tender reflexes in your feet. The discomfort isn't severe but can feel quite sharp, it gives me an indication of any imbalances and will be worked out very quickly normally within two to three passes over the reflex area. I always work within the comfort level of my client so if an area is too sensitive we'll find a pressure level that you can cope with.Don't you find feet horrible?Every pair of feet is like a new friend that I need to meet. They're connected to a unique individual that's come to see me to make changes to their healthcare or just to relax. As a result I don't find feet horrible, in fact I love working feet, I've seen every type of foot that you can imagine and I'm still always excited about working with a client. My feet smell does it matter?Everyone's feet smell to some extent and having worked with so many different clients over the past three years it really doesn't bother me. I've always got some foot wipes to hand if you feel that you need to freshen them up so there's no real excuse for avoiding having your feet done! How long have you been qualified?I qualified in March 2003 and have been in part-time practice from the day I qualified. I trained for 2 years with Jennie Levick, National Director of the International Institute of Reflexology so I've been treating some clients for 4 years now.How do you think Reflexology works? My personal view is that Reflexology works on three levels.
Do I need to talk to my GP first? As you will be paying for your treatment you do not need to have a referral or ask permission from your GP. However if you have a long term condition and you feel you may wish to speak to your regular GP about before commencing treatment then please feel free. If needs be I'd be very happy to speak to you and your GP to make sure that you are 100% happy with the course of treatment that you are going to undertake. Please note that in no way is reflexology a replacement for mainstream healthcare. I practice in a way that works alongside any treatment that you are receiving from your GP or Consultant. What conditions can it help with?I've been fortunate enough to work with patients presenting with a number of complaints ranging from ME through to infertility. As reflexologists we are taught to treat the whole body and being rather than for one specific condition because an imbalance in one part of the body will lead to a tension or imbalance in another part of the body.By working the whole of both feet we can identify areas of dis-ease and rebalance them throught the reflexes in the feet. As a result any condition that we are presented with can be treated via the techniques that we are taught. As that may sound a bit vague I've had successes with the following conditions:
I've helped clients with lots of other conditions as well so my best advice is to try a treatment and see how it works for you!! Click Here to find out how to book!
